Agricultural journalists elect president
He succeeds David Markey, the current world president of the International Federation of Agricultural Journalists.
Irish Farmers’ Journal news editor Pat O’Keeffe, a native of Ballynoe, Co Cork, was elected chairman of the guild’s southern section.
Connacht Gold chief executive Aaron Forde, addressing Guild members prior to their annual general meetings in Carrick-on-Shannon, Co Leitrim, said the dairy sector is not a sunset or twilight industry but is strong and indigenous, employing a lot of people and operating in a tough economic environment.
