Kerry Group opens new farm store in RathmoreBy Donal Hickey
The Group’s managing director, Hugh Friel, officially opened a new store, in Rathmore, to meet the requirements of farmers in East Kerry.
Mr Friel said it would be part of a network of strategically-located new stores, carrying a full range of products to meet farmers’ future needs.
He also said that, apart from the efficient assembly of quality milk, the group was dedicated to providing services and farm inputs that would enable Kerry’s suppliers to become least cost milk producers.
“We expect to see the completion of this farm store development programme in Kerry over the next 12 months, with further developments in Mid-Kerry, South Kerry and West Kerry,” Mr Friel added.
“We have also commenced a similar store development programme in Limerick and Clare.”
He said the group’s Focus on Profit programme had proved that profit per gallon could be high at all levels of output.
“Analysis shows that cash cost competitiveness on Irish dairy farms is ahead of France, Germany, Denmark, the UK and significantly ahead of the US.”
