Dairygold has decided to close its livestock mart in Mallow and sell the site for development.

It is also going ahead with plans to develop a €7.5 million co-op store on a site it owns at the town’s Park Road and Annabella.

The existing co-op store at William O’Brien Street, near the mart site, will be vacated and the property restructured. Dairygold is understood to be in advanced negotiations with developers in respect of the mart and O’Brien Street sites, which are in Mallow’s designated area for urban renewal.
