Ireland: Farm Minister Joe Walsh told the Dáil he is not convinced the establishment of a dedicated unit dealing exclusively with the role of women in agriculture is necessary.

He said he was disappointed there has not been a nomination for appointment of women to the boards of statutory bodies operating under the aegis of his department.

Responding to queries by Labour deputies Emmet Staff and Dr Mary Upton, he said the schemes do not discriminate on grounds of gender.
