Prime land on offer at E500,000 an acre

“WE’RE selling the sizzle and not the steak,” says auctioneer Niall Cahalane of a prime 51 acre holding at Oliver’s Cross in Mallow, Co Cork.

The land, which is on the edge of the town’s residential zoning, but is not zoned itself, will nonetheless draw huge attention, predicts the Cahalane Skuse agent, and he’s giving a guide price of E500,000 per acre.

The new Yukon for property developers, Mallow also took the prize in last year’s round up of farm sales, when local farmer Denis Crowley sold 200 acres of land close to Mallow Castle for a deal reputed to be worth E40 million, to local developer, John Barry.
