Tempesta by Deirdre Kinahahn, one of Ireland’s best loved contemporary playwrights, features a score composed and performed live by Steve Wickham (The Waterboys). Two Dubliners caught up in the onslaught of war in 1930s Europe navigate the storm of love that surrounds them. Inspired by real events in Ireland and Spain as war looms, from the jazz clubs of Dublin to the battlefields of Catalonia, Tempesta is an homage to the majesty of the human heart in the face of great evil – and a reminder that sometimes, when faced with catastrophe, the only choice is to turn and fight.
