Who would, or could, have predicted this result?

I’ve heard comparisons are being made between Kilkenny and the All Blacks.

Cork and Clare meet in the Munster senior football final on Sunday in the Gaelic Grounds, a huge day for both counties, but their hurlers are also in action this weekend, Clare meeting Dublin in Ennis, Cork meeting Offaly in Páirc Uí Chaoimh.

Even before the ball was thrown in yesterday I learned again what the Munster championship is all about, the old traditions still alive.

We’ve seen bad games this year, but this was the most boring.

At least this weekend the GAA got things right fixing the Leinster semi-final this afternoon and the Munster semi-final tomorrow.

The greatest pity about this game in Semple Stadium yesterday — and I make no apology to anyone for hitting on this point again — is that there were only 12,000 there to see it.

It’s time logic began to enter the thinking of the GAA. We have two huge hurling games tomorrow but at venues 50 miles apart.

Anyone who went to Offaly’s clash with Wexford in Tullamore on Saturday to see good hurling, good individual displays or good team play would have been sorely let down.
