We couldn’t be happier with powerful Yorkhill
We couldn’t be happier with powerful Yorkhill

The Christmas festivals are on the horizon but there’s plenty of good racing this weekend, and I’m really looking forward to riding Yorkhill on his chasing debut in the two-mile beginners’ race at Fairyhouse this afternoon.

Listen Dear the standout bet on a big weekend
Listen Dear the standout bet on a big weekend

Much as I would love to ride Douvan in the Hilly Way Chase in Cork tomorrow, I can’t be in two places at once, and so I’ll be in Punchestown to ride Djakadam in the John Durkan Memorial. It’s a Grade 1 race, the biggest race of the day, and that’s the reason I’m going there.

Mares’ allowance to swing it for Vroum Vroum Mag
Decisions, decisions, decisions. That was my lot yesterday morning as I tried to choose the right ones in the big races on a brilliant card tomorrow at Fairyhouse. But there was no such indecision this afternoon as I’m off to Sandown to ride Un De Sceaux in the Tingle Creek.

Let’s Dance looks to be my best partner
Although the stable’s leading lights are only beginning to emerge, Willie has made a bright start to the season, and, buoyed by an admittedly fortunate victory in the Clonmel Oil Chase, I’m hoping the momentum can continue into what is a great weekend of racing.

Prince Of Scars can make winning start to jumping career
Prince Of Scars can make winning start to jumping career
Definite signs that the National Hunt proper is getting in to full swing, with graded races at both meetings in Ireland this weekend, and it’s Naas today for three rides, where I get underway on Saturnas in the maiden hurdle.

Outlander to put in Titanic effort in Belfast Chase

Just two rides today, but they’re good ones, and I start off with Valseur Lido in the JNWine Chase at Down Royal.

Venezia should go very close at Wexford
Venezia should go very close at Wexford

Still waiting for the season to get into full swing, but I’m a little bit busier on the track this weekend than in recent ones, with five rides at Wexford tomorrow.

Promising Village looks poised to follow up at Cheltenham
Promising Village looks poised to follow up at Cheltenham
I’ll ride far more horses on the gallops this weekend than I will on the track, as I have just one mount, which comes today at Punchestown aboard Myles Ahead, trained by my father.

Rock Lobster looks a tasty dish
There is no jumps racing in Ireland this afternoon, but I will be in action in Far Hills, New Jersey, to ride Rawnaq for trainer Cyril Murphy, in the Grand National Hurdle.
