The export of greyhounds from Ireland to China has shocked animal lovers nationwide and beyond our shores.

I cannot answer Tony Moriarty’s question about whether he needs an eye test or not (May 2) but I can assure him that the correct state representatives were present at the recent commemoration for members of the Dublin Metropolitan Police killed during the Easter Rising.

I object strongly to elements in the media that have castigated Paul Murphy TD for availing of free legal aid. 

I am very concerned by the allegations of modern medical procedures being restricted in St Vincent’s hospitals on Catholic, faith-based grounds. For anyone to reject access to modern medical procedures, which are freely available around the world, is a disgrace and morally wrong.

To suggest, as many elected representatives have done recently, that water meters should be scrapped displays a serious lack of knowledge of water management.

It is annoying to see the current attack by politicians on the Junior Cert syllabus constantly being referred to as a “reform”. It is nothing of the sort.

Has our era of good feelings started... Not!
