The argument that the Government were focused while the troika were here and became rudderless when they ‘departed’ misses the point completely.
When, during an economic downturn you get into bed with one of the terrible twins of Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil (nothing distinguishes them bar historical beginnings) you are inevitably in for a hiding come the next elections.

Pope Francis’s visit to Yad Vashem, and his moving gesture in kissing the hands of elderly Holocaust survivors, highlights the suffering of the Jewish people.
I recently attended a family First Holy Communion in Cork. I went to meet my sister, who was coming down from Dublin by train, at the station.
The Leaving Certificate exams will start shortly and there will be a lot of media coverage surrounding them. I actually think that most of this coverage is "hype" and very unhelpful "hype" at that.

If Enda Kenny is so confident that the policies he has pursued since 2011 are correct, then he should immediately call a general election and allow the people of Ireland to express their views.
After Labour’s poor showing in the local and European elections at the weekend, and the resignation of Eamon Gilmore as party leader, it is folly to think a new leader can save their season.
As a hurling fan, I find the group qualifier system in in the Leinster Hurling Championship amazing.
