I worked for 15 years as a Community Employment (CE) scheme supervisor and I knew many supervisors who retired at 66 and were left with just the state pension while the managers in Fás walked away with large pensions and, I imagine, lump sums.

Being the simple chap that I am, could you please riddle me this?
We would like to challenge ex-President Mary McAleese (Irish Examiner, April 14 ) on her view that “the country must vote in favour of the May 22 vote if it wants to finally live up to its constitutional promise to cherish all children equally”.
I wish to thank you for telling your readers (Irish Examiner, April 15) that the campaign for a ‘no’ vote in the gay marriage referendum is not confined to one Church, but is also the belief of Muslims, Quakers and reformed Presbyterians.
The guide on the Marriage Equality Referendum published by Young Fine Gael advises the proposition ‘will not affect children, or their rights in any way, shape or form’; that marriage is a unique legal status; that religious marriage is ‘a ceremony in a church’ but legally binding civil marriage has nothing to do with religion.
The reports that a high percentage of nurses are being bullied in our hospitals on a daily basis is disturbing indeed.
I find Micháel Martin’s comments against our party [Sinn Féin] and president disgusting.
Community Employment Scheme supervisors are no closer to their pension, which was recommended by the Labour Court in July, 2008, given the latest reply by Minister for Arts, Heather Humphreys, to a parliamentary question in the Dail last week.
