Protestant teachings do not allow gay marriage

I wish to thank you for telling your readers (Irish Examiner, April 15) that the campaign for a ‘no’ vote in the gay marriage referendum is not confined to one Church, but is also the belief of Muslims, Quakers and reformed Presbyterians.

Protestant teachings do not allow gay marriage

However, Protestant opposition is not confined to two Churches: in fact, opposition is to be found among all Protestants who are conservative enough to hold to traditional teachings, such as the authority of the Bible and justification by faith.

These would certainly include sections of the Church of Ireland, as well as Baptists, Brethren and Pentecostals and a good many others.
