Forgotten naval heroes owed a debt of honour
Forgotten naval heroes owed a debt of honour

The humanity shown by the naval branch of our Defence Forces on the high seas in such difficult circumstances brings great credit to our country and will no doubt be officially recognised by government in due course.

No effort to publicly mark VJ Day in the south, despite Irish sacrifice
No effort to publicly mark VJ Day in the south, despite Irish sacrifice

Deep-seated fear of dependency on others

Build a drug-free society, and say no to failed policy of decriminalisation

Fr McVerry’s work with homeless youth in Dublin’s inner city is highly valued and rightly so. However, he has become blinded by his righteous anger at the injustice of neglect to vulnerable and homeless people there.

Women should have half the seats in the Dáil
Women should have half the seats in the Dáil

While women constitute half of our population, they are seriously under-represented in national politics. Out of the 4,452 Dáil seats between 1918 and 2009, only 219 were filled by women (4.9%). At present, only 26 TDs out of 166 are women (16%).
