THE prospect of resolving the Dublin Bus dispute in the short term has not been brought closer by the publication of details around the proposed restructuring of Bus Éireann.

Long-fingering the decision, kicking the can down the road, putting it on the back boiler, or — a new one — call a citizens’ convention. 

It may be ingracious to raise an eyebrow at the news that Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan will donate €2.7bn to biomedical research over the next decade. 

WITH Dublin plagued by a series of bitter public transport strikes staged by Dublin Bus, which is grinding the city to a halt with depressing regularity, it would be an industrial relations miracle if other towns and cities did not become mired in the same morass. 

FINANCE Minister Michael Noonan yesterday defended the decision to phase out the €4bn-a-year USC between now and 2021.
