The end of the flatland: Why Dreame’s new tech could change how we clean
Advanced edge and flat-surface cleaning meets multi-level mobility. The Dreame lineup launching on May 27 features the X60 Pro Series and the Cyber X, the world's first bionic quad-track stair-climbing robot vacuum.
The robot vacuum market has long been stuck in a flatland. We have grown used to machines that excel on hardwood and carpet, provided the surface is level. However, the latest announcement from Dreame suggests the era of the "flat-only" cleaner is coming to an end.
The new X60 Pro Series, alongside the Cyber X, could be a shift from simple floor cleaning to what the company calls "full-space" coverage. The most impressive leap here is not just raw power, but dexterity. The X60 Pro Ultra Complete introduces a dual-joint robotic arm. By mimicking the movement of a human shoulder and forearm, the device can extend its side brush and mop pad significantly further into edges and tight corners. It is a clever solution to the perennial problem of missed dust behind chair legs and furniture.

The intelligence is equally impressive. The AI OmniSight 3.0 system uses dual cameras to identify over 300 types of objects. Perhaps more useful for the average homeowner is its ability to detect transparent liquid spills using a specialised blue light. This could mean less manual intervention and fewer "oops" moments after a cleaning cycle.
However, the real conversation starter is Cyber X. This bionic, quad-track robot is designed specifically to climb stairs. While we have seen robots navigate small thresholds before, a machine that can navigate L-shaped or spiral staircases is a massive step forward for multi-storey homes. Using industrial-grade rubber tracks, it can tackle steps up to 30cm high. It is an ambitious move, and if it works as promised, it removes the final boundary in home robotics.
There are, of course, more specialised models in the lineup. The Ultra Matrix version can even switch between different types of mop pads for different rooms, such as scrubbing pads for the kitchen and sponge pads for bathrooms.
While the technical specs, such as the 42,000Pa suction, are undeniably high, the true value here lies in the ambition to bridge the gap between floor cleaning and true domestic autonomy. If Dreame can make stair-climbing as reliable as standard vacuuming, the way we maintain our homes will change significantly.
