GameSir G7 Pro 8K Aimlabs Edition review: Elite performance for the competitive PC gamer
The G7 Pro 8K is GameSir's esports-grade wireless controller for PC, delivering 8,000Hz wired polling and 2.4G wireless low-latency performance. Pictures: GameSir.
For most gamers, a standard controller is perfectly adequate. However, for those playing at a high level, the gap between good and great is measured in mere milliseconds. Moving from a standard-rate gamepad to high-performance, low-latency hardware is a game-changer for anyone serious about climbing the competitive ranks. The GameSir G7 Pro 8K Aimlabs Edition is a specialised, high-performance tool designed specifically for those who want to shave every possible fraction of a second off their reaction times.

Visually, the Aimlabs Edition is striking with a transparent shell and design aesthetic that feels much more pro than your average, generic gamepad. The build quality feels premium, and one of the cleverest bits is the three-piece magnetic swappable faceplate. This allows for easy personalisation and even supports faceplates from the previous G7 series.
The ABXY buttons are optical microswitches, providing incredibly snappy, instant actuation. The D-pad uses a mechanical microswitch, offering crisp, clicky feedback that competitive players crave.
With a highly tactile feel and textured, comfortable grips, the controller is a joy to use. The integrated 1,200mAh battery charges via four pogo pins upon docking, and the base includes a clever storage compartment for the dongle, keeping your setup clutter-free.

The headline feature is undoubtedly the 8000Hz polling rate, available via both USB-C wired and 2.4G wireless connections. This is designed to minimise input lag to almost imperceptible levels. GameSir has also introduced the Mag-Res TMR Sticks Gen-2. Unlike some Hall Effect sticks that can feel slightly floaty, these provide much smoother, more linear control.
The triggers can switch between Hall Effect analogue modes for smooth throttle control in racing games and clicky micro-switch modes for rapid-fire shooting. Add in four remappable macro buttons, including two back buttons and two mini bumpers, and you have a highly adaptable controller that can be tailored to almost any genre.
With support for both 3.5mm wired and 2.4G wireless modes, the G7 Pro 8K provides seamless headset integration. The result is a highly immersive soundstage that maintains ultimate convenience for any user.

To see how this performs across different setups, I put the controller through its paces on a dedicated gaming PC, an Asus ROG Ally X, and a Legion Go 2 Z2. Across all three devices, the 8K polling rate, specifically when using the raw mode in the GameSir software, showed virtually zero jitter. This level of stability is incredibly rare at this price point.
The 6-axis gyro is another fascinating addition. While it isn't quite as refined as the Sony DualSense for standard stick-aiming, it is spectacular when configured for mouse-aim style gameplay.
While the controller is an incredible value, considering its feature set and hardware, it isn't without its quirks. The TMR sticks provide a level of precision that is hard to beat, and the dual-mode triggers make it a versatile all-rounder, but the gyro can be a bit finicky and prone to slight drifting during long sessions. Additionally, the feature-heavy software does come with a bit of a learning curve for those not used to deep hardware customisation.
If you are an aspiring pro looking for a competitive edge, the GameSir G7 Pro 8K Aimlabs Edition is a high-end, tournament-grade controller that is accessible to the everyday gamer.
