Oura Ring 4 portable charger review: A practical power boost for life on the move
The Oura Ring 4 portable charging case is compact, durable and easy to slip into a pocket or bag. Picture: Oura.
I reviewed the Oura Ring 4 last year, and I’ve worn it almost every day since. Its long battery life and really useful insights into sleep, readiness and activity make it one of my favourite wearables in recent years. Still, even a strong battery needs topping up eventually. That’s where the Oura Ring 4 portable charging case comes in.
Oura says one in ten members has bought an additional charger, mainly for travel or to keep in a second location. After months of use, I can see why.

The case is made from recycled aluminium and feels solid yet compact. It’s small enough to slip into a coat pocket or backpack side pocket and tough enough that I haven’t worried about it knocking around in a bag. It’s also splash-resistant, which is helpful when you’re travelling.
I’ve also found it doubles neatly as a storage case when I’m not wearing the ring, which keeps it safe rather than loose on a bedside table.

The case holds up to 5 full charges, meaning you could realistically go weeks without plugging in to the mains. For holidays or work trips, that’s a real benefit.
Charging is quick, too. The case itself recharges via USB-C in under 90 minutes, and it can top up the ring in 20-80 minutes, depending on how low the battery is. The Oura app shows the exact percentage, while the small LED on the case gives a simple at-a-glance indicator for both the ring and the case.
It’s priced at €109 on ouraring.com and is compatible with any Oura Ring 4 or Oura Ring 4 Ceramic, though you'll need to buy the size-specific version.

In day-to-day use, the biggest advantage is peace of mind. I’ve kept the portable charger in my work bag and used it before long days or overnight stays. Instead of planning around wall sockets, I just drop the ring in the case for a quick boost.
It’s not an essential purchase, but for frequent travellers or anyone who dislikes seeing low battery notifications, it quickly proves its worth.
A well-built and useful accessory that makes the Oura Ring 4 even easier to live with.
