Open-ear and over-ear headphones each have their place, but for travellers, commuters, and remote workers, over-ear ANC cans are hard to beat. They block out distractions, deliver punchy sound, and increasingly come with features normally reserved for much more expensive models. OneOdio’s new Focus A6 headphones are an ambitious attempt to bring that premium experience down to an affordable price point.

OneOdio has taken care with the finish by using aviation-grade aluminium alloy, CNC-machined patterns, and a sleek matte coating that feels far from budget. Regarding looks, it’s hard not to see the resemblance to Sony’s WH-1000XM6 headphones.

At just 240g, they’re light enough to wear for hours without fatigue. The foldable headband is both practical and sturdy, while the carry-friendly design makes it easy to slip into a bag for travel. It’s the kind of industrial-meets-elegant design that feels durable without losing its style edge.

Comfort and fit

Comfort is where some affordable headphones can fall short, but the Focus A6 surprised me. The protein leather ear cushions are soft, with memory foam padding that doesn’t overheat thanks to subtle ventilation. The clamping force feels a little tight at first, but I didn’t feel any discomfort. They feel secure enough that they won’t shift during a brisk walk, but not so tight that you’ll be itching to take them off after an hour. For long flights or marathon work sessions, this balance really matters.

This is where the A6 starts to punch above its weight. OneOdio has included app integration for the first time, giving users a dashboard of controls including EQ customisation, firmware updates, and the ability to switch between four sound modes: ANC, Transparency, Normal, and Wind Noise Reduction. It’s not as refined as what you’d find on Sony or Bose, but for a headphone in this price bracket, it’s impressive.

The inclusion of Bluetooth 6.0 is another standout. Connection is solid, latency is low (a bonus for gaming and streaming), and dual-device pairing works smoothly with no fiddling around in settings every time you switch from your phone to your laptop. Add in built-in Tile tracking so you won’t misplace them, and the Focus A6 starts to feel like a much more expensive pair.

Battery life

Battery life is excellent. OneOdio promises up to 75 hours of playback, and in my testing, they comfortably went beyond a week of mixed daily use before I even thought about recharging. When you do need a top-up, a 10-minute quick charge nets around 10 hours of use, which is enough to get you through a full workday on almost no downtime. For travellers, this makes them highly reliable companions.

Sound quality

Of course, all the features in the world mean little if the sound doesn’t hold up. The Focus A6 delivers a well-rounded performance, with 40mm dynamic drivers producing a lively sound profile. Bass is present without being overwhelming, mids come through clearly, and treble is crisp. With LDAC support and Hi-Res certification, you get more detail than expected at this price point, especially when paired with a compatible device and a lossless music source.

The 48dB hybrid ANC is adequate, taking the edge off traffic noise or office chatter. It’s not class-leading, but it’s more than capable for daily commuting and work. Transparency mode also works well, allowing outside sound to pass through when you need situational awareness.

Phone calls are sharp too, with ENC and an AI-assisted call algorithm cutting background noise for clearer voice quality. Whether on Zoom or in a noisy café, conversations were surprisingly crisp.

Verdict

The OneOdio Focus A6 headphones combine sleek design, strong ANC, LDAC sound quality, and an outstanding 75-hour battery into a package that massively overdelivers for the price. They may not dethrone the big players in absolute sound fidelity, but as a well-rounded, affordable pair of ANC headphones, they’re one of the best in their class.
