XGIMI, a frontrunner in the smart projector market, made waves at IFA 2024 by unveiling two products: the portable MoGo 3 Pro and the high-end AURA 2 Ultra Short Throw (UST) projector. These launches were one of my highlights of IFA this year. Each offered something different in the home entertainment space by combining portability, ease of use, and premium features.

XGIMI's MoGo 3 Pro is positioned as the ultimate portable projector, designed for those who want flexibility without compromising on quality. Weighing just 1.1kg and standing about as tall as a Starbucks Venti cup, this tiny powerhouse is easy to carry, making it perfect for impromptu movie nights or professional presentations. XGIMI’s emphasis on portability doesn't detract from its functionality.
It features a USB Type-C port for charging only, which allows the MoGo 3 Pro to run off a power bank. This is handy for those who enjoy outdoor entertainment or must present on the go. In a world where devices are increasingly wireless, this feature adds versatility, catering to both casual users and professionals. The fact that it's the brand's first Google TV projector, with native Netflix support, ensures users will have access to a wide range of streaming content straight out of the box — no side-loading APK files or faffing around trying to get streaming apps to work.
The MoGo 3 Pro's combination of portability, flexibility, and functionality puts it ahead of many competitors. Too often, portable projectors sacrifice image quality or ease of use, but from my quick first-hand impressions, XGIMI has struck the right balance here.
Despite its small size, the MoGo 3 Pro delivers impressive visuals, boasting a 1080p resolution with 450 ISO lumens of brightness. While this may not compete with the brightest projectors on the market, it’s more than sufficient for indoor and outdoor settings, especially considering the portability factor. The device can project up to a 120-inch screen, turning any space into a cinema.
The projector also features built-in Harman/Kardon speakers, providing rich, 360-degree surround sound. With two 5W speakers, the MoGo 3 Pro doesn't just deliver visuals; it creates an immersive audio-visual experience. For those who love to host gatherings, the projector’s Ambient Light Mode allows it to function as a Bluetooth speaker, adding versatility beyond just a movie projector.
Another key feature of the MoGo 3 Pro is the Intelligent Screen Adaption 2.0 technology. This advanced image correction system ensures a hassle-free setup, automatically correcting keystone distortion, performing autofocus, and adjusting for obstacles in the projection path. This is ideal for those who aren’t AV experts. It takes the guesswork out of getting a clear, perfectly aligned image, making the MoGo 3 Pro as user-friendly as possible.
XGIMI also launched several accessories, including the PowerBase Stand and Creative Optical Filter. These accessories extend battery life, add unique visual effects, and make transport easier.

While the MoGo 3 Pro is designed for portability, XGIMI’s AURA 2 aims to create a premium home theatre experience. This 4K Ultra Short Throw projector promises to deliver a massive 100-inch screen from just 17.82 cm away, making it ideal for users with limited space. Its combination of compact size and powerful projection makes it a standout in the high-end projector market.
The Dual Light 2.0 technology in the AURA 2 delivers 2,300 ISO lumens of brightness and 99% DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage. This ensures that visuals are bright and vibrant, even in well-lit rooms. In my opinion, this level of brightness, paired with the 0.177:1 throw ratio, sets a new standard for UST projectors, particularly for those looking to maximise image quality in smaller living spaces.
From my early impressions, the AURA 2 is a home cinema powerhouse. With 4K resolution, Dolby Vision, and HDR10 certification, it promises a viewing experience that rivals most traditional theatres. Its IMAX Enhanced certification is the cherry on top, allowing users to enjoy content explicitly formatted for IMAX, complete with immersive visuals and DTS audio.
The built-in 60W Harman/Kardon speakers offer room-filling sound, complemented by Dolby Atmos ready support, creating a fully immersive audio-visual experience.
Like the MoGo 3 Pro, the AURA 2 features intelligent setup options via ISA 5.0. This system includes automatic focus, keystone correction, and even wall colour adaptation, ensuring the projector is optimised for any environment. With a host of connectivity options, including WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and multiple HDMI ports, the AURA 2 is as versatile as it is powerful. It’s also worth noting that it comes with an automatic lens cover to protect the projector when not in use.
With the launch of the MoGo 3 Pro and AURA 2, XGIMI is introducing two different projectors into the smart projector market. The MoGo 3 Pro offers a compelling blend of portability, functionality, and smart features, making it ideal for users who want flexibility without sacrificing quality. Meanwhile, the AURA 2 redefines what’s possible in a home cinema setup, bringing a theatre-quality experience into your living room.
