The Canyon DVR10GPS dash cam is a versatile and reliable solution for drivers seeking enhanced on-road safety and recording capabilities. Boasting stellar features, a sleek design, and a user-friendly interface, it offers impressive functionality without straining your budget.

The DVR10GPS sports a Sony Starvis 307 sensor, renowned for its exceptional performance in low-light conditions. It can capture 1080p footage at 60/30 fps with good image quality. I found the results impressive during day or night and prevailing weather conditions. Moving cars appear slightly blurry in the low light, making it challenging to read licence plates properly when you pause the footage. As with all dash cams, the better the light, the clearer the image quality.
The included CPL (circular polarising filter) dramatically reduces reflections, enhancing colours and increasing contrast.
The dash cam boasts an expansive 136° field of view, offering comprehensive coverage of the surrounding environment. With this wide-angle viewpoint, you can be confident that you will have excellent coverage and maximise your chances of not missing anything. From unexpected road hazards to breathtaking scenery, the DVR10GPS ensures that every moment is recorded precisely and clearly.

One of the standout features of the DVR10GPS is its magnetic holder, which facilitates easy installation and secure mounting. Unlike traditional mounting systems that require cumbersome brackets or adhesive mounts, the magnetic holder uses a suction mechanism to attach the dash cam quickly and securely to your windscreen. This makes removing the dash cam quick and easy if you don’t want to leave it in your car. A soft pouch to keep the dash cam safe is included in the box. The only thing I didn’t like was the straight USB-C cable to connect to the mount — it would have been better if this were at a 90-degree angle for a neater install.

The dash cam supports a direct WiFi connection, which works with the free Canyon Eye app (iOS and Android). Using the app, you can manage dash cam settings, access recordings, and download firmware updates directly from your smartphone. Downloads from the app aren’t particularly fast. A 356MB file took 2:52 minutes to download; a 225MB file took 1:35 minutes. Alternatively, you can take the microSD card (not included) from the dash cam and copy the files to a PC or Mac.
The app's functionality is limited, and you can't use the dash cam directly when you're linked to it over WiFi. You can use the sluggish and unhelpful live view feature, and the software only allows you to modify a few of the dash cam's settings.

The DVR10GPS also offers a range of safety features to keep drivers informed and protected on the road. The built-in GPS module enables real-time vehicle speed and location tracking, providing valuable navigation and incident analysis data.
By default, the 3-inch display will show your speed, which might be helpful for those using it on a vehicle with MPH instead of KPH. You can change this to show a live view of what the camera sees.
One missing feature is any form of parking mode to capture accidental bumps or impacts to your vehicle while parked. There’s also no option to record timelapse movies of your journey.
The Canyon DVR10GPS is a solid-performing dash cam, offering drivers a balance between features and good image quality. With its reliable performance and elegant design, this dash cam gives drivers peace of mind and enhanced security. Whether you're a daily commuter, a long-distance traveller, or a weekend adventurer, the Canyon DVR10GPS offers just enough features to justify its price tag.
