A jury has been sworn in for the trial of a 55-year-old Kerry man who has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to the murder of his mother at her home in Killarney three years ago.

Billy Burns, aged 55 of Arlington Lodge, Tralee, is charged with murdering Miriam Burns, aged 75, on a date unknown between August 12-15, 2022, both dates inclusive, at an address in Ardshanavooley, Killarney.
