The Imou Cell Go smart is an innovative security camera with the prestigious 2023 Red Dot Award for exceptional product design and offers homeowners and business owners a robust security solution.
The Cell Go camera is a compact device boasting numerous impressive features, such as a built-in battery, storage, and security lights. This relatively small camera features two circular elements on its front: one dedicated to the camera and the other for the security lights. At the back of the unit, there's a screw mount, and underneath, there's a magnetic mount, providing installation flexibility. The package includes a magnetic mount, facilitating easy removal for convenient battery recharging.
Regarding design looks, the Cell Go reminds me of the Disney character Wall-E. This isn’t a bad thing, but it made me smile when I first saw it.
On the rear, a protective rubber flap covers the micro-USB charging port, although it's worth noting that it uses micro-USB instead of USB-C. The unit's base features another rubber section housing two buttons: one for power and the other for toggling the LED battery indicator on the front, which uses different colours to indicate the battery level status.
The Cell Go is designed to withstand diverse weather conditions, boasting an IP65 certification for weather resistance. It can handle windy, rainy, and sandy conditions, ensuring reliable performance year-round.
The Cell Go comes equipped with motion detection capabilities, capable of identifying human shapes, but not pets that pass in front of the camera. You have the flexibility to configure this feature to activate when any motion is detected, or you can define a specific area within the camera's frame for triggering. Additionally, you can establish detection schedules for particular times of the day on specific days, providing you with precise control over the camera's monitoring functionality.
The camera is equipped with a 3-megapixel camera and offers impressive 2K night vision, with good clarity even in low-light conditions.
The Cell Go is a fully wireless camera with a 5,000mAh battery that can operate for up to 120 days on a single charge, offering extended surveillance without frequent recharging. However, battery life will vary depending on the performance mode you set in the Imou app, so this is a best-case scenario. For this reason, I wouldn’t recommend installing the Cell Go in a place that’s not easy to reach. You’ll need to recharge it several times a year. However, the Imou Cell Go can be paired with an Imou solar panel for continuous power, ensuring you never have to worry about recharging the battery.
The camera includes 4GB of built-in for recording and storing footage, but there isn't a micro-SD card slot to expand the storage.
Imou provides a full year of free cloud storage on Imou Protect, where event recordings are securely saved for up to 30 days, accessible at your convenience. Additional benefits include AI detection and the option to download SD card recordings.
This camera also includes a Privacy Mode, which allows it to enter sleep mode when needed, preserving energy.
The Cell Go features a built-in siren and supports a bi-talk option for vulnerable individuals, altering the voice to sound deeper and more robust to deter potential intruders.
Installing the Cell Go is a breeze, although it doesn’t support 5Ghz networks and caused my network to not recognise it at first. It can be quickly and effortlessly connected and installed in your garden, kitchen, or living room with a simple click. Even in locations without Wi-Fi access, it can function as a hotspot, directly connecting to your phone. This feature proves helpful when recording continuously or in areas with limited signal reception.
