Facebook has launched a new campaign in France aimed at combatting fake news stories ahead of this year’s presidential elections, as reported in an article from Reuters.

Facebook announced on Monday that it will partner with eight French media companies to fact check articles and filter fake news, similar to the initiatives launched by Facebook in the US last year and in Germany last month.

Facebook will partner with Le Monde, Agence France-Presse (AFP), BFM-TV, Franceinfo, France Médias Monde, L’Express, Libération, and 20 Minutes, and the early results of the campaign will be assessed in two months.
