No Man's Sky was certainly a unique adventure when it arrived on the PS4 earlier in the year, but players quickly realised that although you had a whole universe to play around in there wasn't much to actually do.

Well developers Hello Games are addressing those issues with a new Foundation Update, and it's the first of many to come. One of the standout new features is base building, which allows you to bring a little personality to the planet you call home. Here's 13 minutes of footage showing how the new mechanics work.

It all looks really simple and accessible, but also a lot more comprehensive and detailed than any personalisation which was offered at launch. This kind of activity also suits the rather laid back pace of the game, and we had to admit the idea of jetting over our own homestead and coming in for a landing sounds pretty neat.
