Ghost in the Shell trailer with Scarlett Johansson is a visual treat

The full trailer for the live action adaptation of Ghost in the Shell has arrived, and you can definitely say it has some amazing visuals to share.

The film stars Scarlett Johansson as The Major, a cybernetic organism with the brain of a human. She was rebuilt after a horrible accident and now works to help people who are being targeted by cybercriminals.

Director Rupert Sanders seems to be following the iconic 1995 anime very closely, which might not be a bad thing. Alongside Akira, it's arguably the anime film which has had the most crossover appear to Western audiences over the last few decades.

At least this means that Sanders has a lot of top notch action to draw from, and fans will recognise a few familiar moments such as major in her camoflage suit and a glimpse of a battle against a mech, with plenty of bullets flying.

The world looks interesting and Johansson has been making some interesting genre choices of late with the likes of Lucy and Under the Skin. The marvellous Takeshi Kitano is in the cast, alongside Michael Pitt, Juliette Binoche, Michael Wincott and a refreshingly international mix of players.

Ghost in the Shell is out in March, 2017.
