IMDb founder celebrates 10000th movie with something special

You may not know this but the incredible resource of the Internet Movie Database (or IMDb for short) was kicked off in 1990 by British programmer Col Needham who really liked making lists of actresses with rather lovely eyes.

26 years later, it has become THE definitive source for film and TV show listings on the planet, and the ultimate place to click on if you just can't remember the name of that actress or actor in the flick you're watching.

Part of Needham's passion for the project grew out of his own intention to track all the features had ever seen, which he had been keeping a list of since the age of 13. Those films were some of the first to be added to what would later be called the IMDb, and it seems like he's remained a film fan ever since.

Needham recently watched his 10,000 feature film in just over a quarter of a century, and he did it with a really special film.

That's quite an achivement for Mr. IMDb and we've been hearing loads of great things about A Monster Calls - which features the voice of Liam Neeson and is based on the truly memorable book which was written by Patrick Ness, based on a concept by the late author Siobhan Dowd.

Here's to the next 10,000!
