Netlix's Lemony Snicket teaser is dark and self aware

Netflix has a new take on Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events in the works and this first teaser video is pretty marvellous.

The Lemony Snicket books are often wonderfully self-aware, with the author taking time out to talk to the reader, and the first full teaser for the Netflix series does the same- with some perfect help from Patrick Warburton as the voice and face of the author himself.

That's even a voice cameo by Neil Patrick Harris, who makes for pretty great casting as the wicked Count Olaf, who will once again be making things difficult for the Baudelaire children. There are eight episodes planned for the first season, which will cover the first four books of the 13 book series.

This teaser also reveals the air date with the full run available on the 13th of January, 2017. This looks just a bit delicious.
