That's because he's attached to a new take on Scarface, following on from previous entries starring Al Pacino in 1983 and Paul Mini in 1932- itself inspired by an earlier book which borrowed heavily from the life and times of Al Capone.
So the story is far from original and while Brian DePalma's 80s version might be revered that doesn't mean a remake, or a retelling, isn't long overdue.
