Doctor Strange will join the Infinity War

Doctor Strange is coming soon and we're hoping for something special from Marvel and new director Scott Derrickson - mostly because it seems like a whole new world for this particular 'Verse.

Doctor Strange will join the Infinity War

Brit actor Benedict Cumberbatch is playing the Doctor in question- an acclaimed surgeon who loses his skills in a tragic accident and goes on a journey to find the meaning in his life again.

While chatting with Empire the star gave away some details which he probably shouldn't have, talking about the “logistical challenge" of getting his schedule into place with those of "Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany”.

“To get us all together will be quite something. That’s why this character is being introduced, to open up the next chapter. So watch this space to see how that unfolds.”

Now in all honesty it's no big surprise to hear that the character will pop up in Infinity War. Marvel is all about creating a connected universe and that includes introducing new players in their own solo movies. So Ant-Man had his part to play in Civil War and the likes of Spider-Man and Black Panther will now go off to their own flicks.

There's also the interesting point that it won't be too long before the contracts for the original cast members start to expire, and they may be too expensive to renew or the likes of Chris Evans might just be fed up being ridiculously buff for most of a decade. When that happens, Marvel will need a new cohort of familar faces to keep audiences engaged.

No pressure, Cumberbatch.

Doctor Strange is in cinemas at the end of October, 2016.
