iPhone 7 Plus teardown confirms specs

The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus have been ripped open to be inspected on the inside by repair community iFixit. This reveals exactly how much has changed within Apple’s latest handsets.
iPhone 7 Plus teardown confirms specs

According to iFixit, the iPhone 7 Plus features a larger battery than the iPhone 6s Plus. It has a 2,900mAh battery, an improvement on the 2,750mAh that the iPhone 6s Plus shipped with, though slightly less than the iPhone 6 Plus’ 2,915mAh.

The teardown confirms that the iPhone 7 Plus features 3GB RAM. There’s also an additional connector for the camera, which is understandable as the iPhone 7 Plus features an additional camera sensor.

Instead of the headphone jack, the iPhone 7 Plus features a component “that seems to channel sound from outside the phone into the microphone... or from the Taptic Engine out.”

Speaking of the Taptic Engine, the iPhone 7 Plus’ Home button doesn’t click, but vibrates instead.

While most of us won’t be repairing our own Apple device if something goes awry, iFixit notes that it’ll be even trickier to do so this year.
