Netflix's Bloodline has been cancelled

Netflix has a lot of top notch original programming but they can't all continue forever, with the news today that Bloodline has been cancelled.

Netflix's Bloodline has been cancelled

Honestly this isn't a major surprise. While I enjoyed the first season immensely the second run failed to grab me, for reasons which should be pretty clear to fans. There was an overall lack of momentum in the new episodes, and even the dodgy dealings of the Rayburns couldn't quite get past it.

Netflix VP of original content said to TV Line:

“Bloodline season three will be the show’s final season. Todd A. Kessler, Daniel Zelman and Glenn Kessler (KZK) are thoughtful and visionary storytellers, who lead a prestigious cast, that includes Kyle Chandler and Ben Mendelsohn, who have both garnered two Emmy nominations for their roles on the series. Together, with our collaborative partners at Sony Pictures Television, they created a seductive show that Netflix viewers worldwide love and continue to discover. We are looking forward to the exciting climax KZK have in store for the series conclusion in May 2017.”

Three seasons is a good length for Netflix, the kind of package that can be easily binged. What's more the third season has been confirmed to have 10 episodes rather than 13, ensuring that things will move at a faster clip as everything comes to a head for this shady Florida family.

Season 3 will debut in mid 2017, all the episodes to date are on Netflix.
