Star Trek Discovery series delayed- maybe this is a good thing

Star Trek Discovery has been delayed.

The new TV series from CBS was set to debut in January 2017 but the official news now is that it won't arrive on smaller screens until May of next year.

Honestly it seems like all things Discovery were moving very fast, with the creative panel confirmed less than a year before the first episode was due to air. Extra time is good for every department- writers, special effects, crew, the as yet unannounced cast and even the marketing machine which CBS will have to get into place to really attract an audience.

So for right now we're putting this firmly in the good news category. Showrunner Bryan Fuller is a man we have a lot of faith in, from his work on Pushinig Daisies to the righteously insane Hannibal this is a man with serious vision. In fact his involvement might be part of the delay as he's also up to his neck in the development of American Gods for Starz, adapted from the book by Neil Gaiman.

Rest assured, Star Trek Discovery is coming and it's going to be good... probably! The episodes will air on Netflix in Ireland.
