Speaking at TechCrunch’s Disrupt conference Hanke hinted that it’s unlikely that Android Wear users will be left behind. He said, “Our whole mission as a company is to evangelize this whole concept of playing games outside, real world games. Apple Watch we think is a great vehicle for that.”

“As other devices come on the market – if those are Android Wear devices or if they are devices from other quadrants that are interesting for gameplay and mobility, and being active – we’ll look into supporting those, too,” he added.

Player retention is dropping off, but Niantic still has plans for the future of Pokemon Go. Player vs player battles will arrive in the future and Niantic just launched buddy Pokemon, which lets you show off your favourite Pokemon and collect candy while you’re walking around.

Hanke added that the Pokemon Go that’s currently available is just the “tip of the iceberg.”
