These Sony smartphones will be getting Android 7.0 soon

Android 7.0 Nougat is here, with the operating system first appearing on the LG V20 smartphone and rolling out to Google's own devices immediately.

These Sony smartphones will be getting Android 7.0 soon

Now it's time for all the other Android users to play catch up, with each manufacturer responsible for updating their own hardware. That's a pretty messy process considering the range of difference specifications which are out there, and it can often take many months for the updates to hit.

Sony Mobile wasted no time in confirming which of its handsets will be on the Nougat platform, and the full list is here- including some tablets:

Xperia Z3+, Xperia Z4 Tablet, Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact, Xperia Z5 Premium, Xperia X, Xperia XA, Xperia XA Ultra and Xperia X Performance

Mostly these are newer handsets from the company, and their higher specced offerings- which makes sense as Nougat is designed to work best on speedier phones. It's a given that the new operating system will also be coming to the newly announced Xperia XZ and Xperia X Compact, which are due out in October, 2016.

There's no confirmed date for the Android 7.0 rollout just yet but we'll have an update as soon as possible.
