Twitter actually banned someone for Olympics gifs

Broadcasters paid big money for exclusive rights to air the Olympics and measures were put in place to protect those rights, including a ban on gifs.

Twitter actually banned someone for Olympics gifs

One Twitter user has paid the price for ignoring this rule, having seemingly been banned from the service after posting a few gifs. Jim Weber took to LinkedIn to reveal that his account was banned after posting three gifs from the Olympics.

In a LinkedIn post, he wrote that he was aware that the International Olympic Committee had banned the press from using gifs, but he didn’t see how it applied to him. He says, “I figured the worst thing that would happen is the GIF would be deleted from my account, as Twitter often does in these situations.”
