Kerry lotto player who is now €1m richer didn't realise winning ticket was in glovebox

The winner had purchased the ticket from Centra at The Reeks in Killarney and did not realise they had the winning ticket. 

A lotto player in Kerry has recently claimed over €1 million after discovering their winning Euromillions Ireland ticket had been sitting unnoticed in the glovebox of their car for over a week. 

The winner had purchased the ticket from Centra at The Reeks in Killarney and did not realise they had the winning ticket, even after "chatting to people (in the town) about the win". 

The Euromillions special 'Ireland Only' Raffle Ticket, which saw a guaranteed €1,005,000 prize for one player.

Recalling the moment, the winner said they had no idea the ticket was even in the car glovebox and that it was worth a million euros. 

"I heard there had been a win in the town, and I had even been chatting to people about the win and what you would do if you ever won a prize like that! Little did I know a €1 million ticket was in my driveway," they said. 

They are now planning how they will spend the prize money, with a Mediterranean cruise high up on their wish list. 

Separately, a Kildare winner is €500,000 richer after matching all five numbers at the Euromillions Plus draw. 

The Quick Pick ticket which was purchased on Friday at the Centra in Clane, on the day of the draw, had the winning numbers of 19, 23, 27, 35 and 42. 

Store Owner John Hickey said they were thrilled to hear that the winning ticket was sold at their store. 

"It's a brilliant result for both the store and the town, and there's been a real buzz locally since the win was announced. We hope the winner is enjoying every moment of this win," he added. 

The winner has since contracted the National Lottery and arrangements are underway for the winner to collect their prize.
