Hidden Figures trailer- untold story of the women who put us in space

Hidden Figures is the untold true story of the African American women who helped to put the first American in space. And it looks like a great slice of cinema.

The story mostly focusses on mathematician Katherine Johnson who was part of a group of women who essentially did the work of a supercomputer to get the calculations to ensure that astronaut John Glen didn't die. It's based on the book of the same name by Margot Lee Shetterly and stars the wonderful Taraji P. Henson as Johnson.

Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monáe star as fellow maths whizzes Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson, the main figures in a group of people who have been essentially marginalised in the story of how we came to leave the Earth's atmosphere.

There's support from Mahershala Ali, Kevin Costner, Kirsten Dunst and Jim Parsons and direction comes from St. Vincent helmer Theodore Melfi. Hidden Figures is out in the States in January 2017 (which might put it out of Oscar contention) and arrives in Ireland in February.
