Adblock Plus counters Facebook's new ads - Facebook to disable new workaround

Facebook is eager to increase its ad revenue on desktop, but determined ad blockers stand in the way. Adblock Plus unveiled a workaround to counter Facebook's new ads and its plans to restrict software that blocks ads.

All you need to do is update your Adblock Plus filters and you should be free from Facebook's ads on desktop once again. The solution has been pushed out quite quickly, and Adblock Plus' Ben Williams notes that it hasn't been heavily tested.

Facebook hasn't taken too kindly to this and says that it might actually punish users. "We're disappointed that ad blocking companies are punishing people on Facebook as these new attempts don't just block ads but also posts from friends and Pages," a spokesperson for Facebook told The Verge.
