VIDEO Sausage Party behind the scenes is pretty messed up

Sausage Party is a new movie about talking foodstuffs who are having a really great time until they are sold to be chopped and sliced and diced and eaten by humans. It's up to a fearless hotdog called Frank to escape and reveal the truth about what happens when you go home from the store!

It's an R-rated animated film that looks pretty hilarious, so naturally the story of how it came together is pretty darn funny too.

In actual fact it was quite a struggle to get this made, with Rogen first starting to work on the project most of a decade ago. You can pretty much understand why studios didn't want to get involved and it took a lot of convincing for a complicated deal which spread around the production costs and created the feature on a budget of under $20 million.

It releases in the States tomorrow and has no other adult oriented fare to compete against so could end up being a minor hit. Even a 15 million opening would be a big surprise for everyone involved. Or it could completely bomb.

Either way we think it looks hilarious and it's going to be in cinemas in Ireland on the 2nd of September, 2016.
