New GoPro could have GPS
Last week we wrote about how the upcoming camera could have a new user interface with a touchscreen and more streamlined controls, good news for anyone who liked what the Hero 5 Silver was doing but wanted something a little more nippy.
The latest news is that the camera could come with built in GPS. That's the kind of thing that you'll find in a lot of devices these days, and would allow for your pictures and videos to be tagged with their location, all stored in the metadata when you share content or easily accessible in the exif info.
This tech could also track even more information, so you could see what elevation you were at before and after a particularly gnarly snowboarding session. Do people still use 'gnarly'?
There's also a report suggesting the camera could be getting smaller and even lighter, which will no doubt be the kind of thing that people complain about because it could mean paying cash for new bodies or even extra batteries.
There's no official word from GoPro yet but we should expect something before the end of 2016.
