You'll find a good range of films in cinemas this week, including comedy and drama and a great big shark.

The Shallows

Blake Lively is out for a nice bit of surfing at an isolated beach when a shark comes and ruins it all. Cue a tense thriller about an extremely tanned young woman being menaced by a demon from the deep. The director made some of Liam Neeson's recent b-movies.

Pete's Dragon

Disney's remake train trundles ever on, though the 1977 original isn't as fondly remembered as many of its classics. There's a lot of drinking in it for a kids film. The new version has Robert Redford, Bryce Dallas Howard and a CG dragon who looks kind of weird if we're being honest.

Nerve

Young folks Emma Niece of Julia Roberts and Dave brother of James Franco get involved in an online game of ever increasing dares that plays out in front of a global audience. Maybe there's a lesson in here for society, from the directors of Catfish. Probably not.

Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates

Zac Efron and the dude from Pitch Perfect (no the other dude) need to stop being crappy humans and get dates for their sisters wedding to keep them contained. This doesn't really work out when they're tricked into taking Aubrey Plaza and Anna Kendrick, who are bigger human disaster zones. Cue antics.
