Suicide Squad likely won't land in China

Suicide Squad is in cinemas now and estimates are suggesting its in for a record breaking opening weekend.

That's good news for everyone involved, especially when you consider the film has a price tag of close to 200 million dollars and that it recently underwent expensive reshoots. Factor in the cost of a massive global marketing campaign and the relatively low return on Batman v Superman earlier in the year and Suicide Squad needs to be a huge international hit.

There's a good chance of solid numbers in the US and the West but it's seeming less and less likely that the film will manage to earn a place at cinemas in China. There's no confirmed release date there yet, and normally a major film like this would be confirmed by now.
