The Division movie will star Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Chastain
The actor previously got some abs to play the lead in Prince of Persia The Sands of Time which you completely forgot actually released back in summer 2010. Now he's on board once again for The Division.
It's a very different genre this time around, with the 2016 game all about trying to take back the streets of New York city after a terrible viral outbreak. It's open world and keyed towards multiplayer action but there's actually a pretty decent story buried inside all the bullets.
The Division isn't a very interseting property for a big screen adaptation, it's going to be another generic tale of heavily armed folks who triumph in the face of adversity, probably with a PG-13 rating, but it is one of Ubisoft's primary franchises after a hugely succesful launch earlier this year.
Gyllenhaal will be teaming up with the rather great Jessica Chastain for the gig and wouldn't it be nice if there wasn't a hint of romance and she was the ass kicker while he was some lowly tech head? Instead we're going to go ahead and guess she'll either be in peril and waiting to be saved or wearing some kind of white coat back at the base.
Ubisoft has another major title hitting cinemas this year in the first Assassin's Creed movie with Michael Fassbender, and it might not be totally terrible. Maybe.
