Leo's Oscar win the most Tweeted moment ever

After almost 20 years and six previous nominations, Leonardo DiCaprio finally picked up a win for his bear-mauling epic The Revenant last night - and Twitter went crazy.

Leo's Oscar win the most Tweeted moment ever

The win spun out online in a frenzy of up to 440,000 tweets per minute - by far the most Twitter activity ever seen during an Oscars broadcast. This eclipses the previous top moment which was Ellen's selfie nonsense back in 2014.

The online activity for this years Oscars was also high thanks to all the love around the world for Mad Max Fury Road. While it didn't manage to clinch best film - which instead went to Spotlight, a film that totally lacks car chases - the epic did pick up a number of technical awards. And it's sixth Oscar of the night was for Sound Editing, a moment that earned the second highest Twitter spike of the evening.
