Pacific Rim 2 is really happening

Reports are suggesting that Pacific Rim 2 is back on, with a new director at the helm instead of Guillermo del Toro

Pacific Rim may not have been everyone's cup of tea but it picked up many ardent fans, and also earned serious money when it released in China after a surprisingly low box office performance in the States. Ever since then director Guillermo del Toro has been trying to get a sequel into production, with the studios constantly shuffling their feet and a number of potential starts being cancelled at the last minute. Well now it's back, and we can't wait.

In case you don't know, Pacific Rim is about a world which is being invaded by impossibly huge creatures from another dimension, with humanity responding the only way they can - by building equally gigantic bots which can go toe to toe with this monsters. All you need to know about the first film is that a bot beats up a beast by wielding a container ship as a baseball bat. It's delicious stuff.
