Street Fighter V players to lose all progress

Those playing Street Fighter V better not be too attached to their data as they're about to lose it all in a server reset ahead of the game's release.
Street Fighter V players to lose all progress

It's not unheard of for some lucky gamers to get their hands on games early thanks to retailers breaking release dates or online retailers misjudging when packages needed to be sent out for them to arrive on the day of release. But those who got Street Fighter V early are to lose all their progress to date.

Capcom has said that it is to reset its servers today and all user progress and game data being lost in the process. Capcom PR manager Laura Skelly told MCV, " We’re looking into reports on this matter as we are concerned that consumers playing early will have their game data wiped and all progress deleted due to the server resets taking place prior to launch."

This isn't likely to affect Street Fighter V players as much as it would players of many other games though. Sure, they'll lose their ranking, but now they've gotten warmed up and will be ready for the masses to arrive in the online ring.

Street Fighter V will be released officially on February 16th with everyone starting on an equal footing in terms of progress and points, but those who played it early - or tried the beta - will have a distinct advantage. Everyone else may want to stick to training mode for a while.
