Samsung won't be making the iPhone 7 processor
Samsung had been involved in manufacturing processors for every iPhone and iPad from their inception to the more recent iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus.
TSMC has been heavily involved in producing processors for Apple in recent years. It took charge of manufacturing the Apple A8 chip, while the iPad Air 2 featured the A8X which TSMC also made.
It's not all that surprising that Apple wants to distance itself from Samsung. They are direct competitors, have been involved in court battles since 2011, and Samsung has seen profits increase as a result of making chips for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S Plus.
