VIDEO High-Rise full trailer is a fever dream
It turned out to be High-Rise, an adaptation of a novel by J.G. Ballard (Crash, Empire of the Sun) in which Tom Hiddleston moves into a towering block of flats in 1975 and tries to keep to himself. But the stratified society of the tower draws him in, and things get quite interesting from there. Here's the first full trailer, and it looks absolutely mesmerising.
Wheatley has an amazing capacity to make anything strange and when the subject matter is already of the weird variety, you know the result is at least going to be interesting. The early reviews out of TIFF went from the rapturous to the rote and everything in between. That's not unusual for a Wheatley film but if you're a fan of his sense of humour and style this is a must see.
Starring Hiddleston, Jeremy Irons, Sienna Miller, Luke Evans and Elizabeth Moss, High-Rise is on general release in Ireland on the 18th of March but is also showing in the Audi Dublin International Film Festival on the 22nd of February with director Ben Wheatley attending for a Q&A.
