At Irish cinemas February 5th
Remember those Goosebumps books? Well there's a movie based on that out this week, as well as a real dose of TV comedy nostalgia with Dad's Army. Theres only one Oscar nominated film out this week, which gives you an excuse to shut off your brain for the new version of Point Break!
Jack Black stars as the author R.L. Stine in this clever take on the popular tween novels. His creations are loose and only the writer and some kids can take down the heavily CGd nasties. Fresh from decent reviews in the States, this is a solid bet for some Sunday afternoon entertainment.
Yep this is based on that TV show you possibly used to watch about the British Home Guard during World War 2. This story takes place in 1944 and sees the team being interviewed by glamorous journalist Catherine Zeta-Jones. Also starring reliable sorts like Bill Nighy, Toby Jones and Michael Gambon.
Breaking Bad's Bryan Cranston stars as Dalton Trumbo - a massively successful Hollywood screenwriter in the 1950s who was relagated to the Black List by the House of unAmerican Activities. With a powerhouse performance its an interesting look at a hidden and shameful period in the entertainment industry.
No Keanu Reeves or Patrick Swayze here, instead some new folks - including Brit Luky Bracy - defy death in a cat and mouse game of cop and criminal. The stunts look very impressive but the reviews from its release last year were less than stellar. Ray Winstone is not Busey and Teresa Palmer is not Petty.
