Angry Birds live in your phone and fly at mean piggies. Now they're also in a big screen movie for some reason we can't quite figure out.
VIDEO: Angry Birds movie is actually a real thing

Here's a trailer by way of proof.

Look there's no denying it's a popular franchise on the back of two mobile games and a whole shedload of clever merchandising but that bubble has officially popped - Angry Birds is so 2010. What's more, the games themselves never did a great job of setting up the birds as characters, it's not like people all over the world have been waiting to find out why Red is so annoyed all the time.

Still, developers Rovio and Sony Pictures have sunk close to $200 million into the thing and hired writer Jon Vitti who has worked on everything from The Simpsons to The Office. There's even an impressive voice cast including Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Danny McBride and Bill Hader and an actual story and everything. Let's see how it all works out.

Angry Birds the movie is in cinemas May 2016.
